Dearly Beloved,

With all that happened last week with the death of several people near and dear to this parish, I failed to thank you all for the celebration of my 5th anniversary as your rector. We had a fabulous time together on that Sunday, April 15. Thanks to all of you for the cards and the gifts marking the day and thank you for making it a most special day. A special “shout out” to Dale Britton and Dave Stackhouse for their hilarious portrayal of Screwtape and Wormwood trying to figure out what we have going on here at the church (hint: LOVE!). As I told you that day, I have never had as much fun being a priest in a parish as I have been having since I arrived here. It is my honor and privilege to be your rector and I pray the Lord continues to bless us and we move forward and worship our Lord and live His Gospel.

Construction Update
Since last week’s email, the footings were poured for our office addition, as you can see in the picture above. You can see many pictures of the concrete being poured here on our website by clicking here. The torrential rains we received this week made it impossible to do anything further. We are now scheduled to have the block for the basement walls and foundation delivered this week and the block mason should begin work later in the week.

Betty Parkinson Funeral
Betty’s funeral will be here at the church tomorrow, Saturday, April 28, at 11:00 a.m. Interment in our cemetery and a reception will immediately follow the Requiem Eucharist. Please be here as we bid adieu to a lady who was such an incredible influence on our lives here at All Saints.

Bill Conner Funeral
Barbara Conner’s husband Bill died last Saturday morning. He was 75. His funeral will be held on Sunday, April 29, at 3:00 p.m. at Starnes Cove Baptist Church, 149 Starnes Cove Road, Asheville, NC, where Bill was a longtime member. Please keep Barbara, Ashley, Anthony, and all of Bill’s family in your prayers.

Wayne Byrd Funeral
Eric Byrd’s father Wayne died early Sunday morning following complications after a car accident. His funeral is being held in Gainesville, Florida. Eric, Rebekah, and the children are on their way to Florida as I write today. Please keep them in your prayers as they travel and also for comfort for the whole family.

We pray, O Lord, for the souls of Betty, Bill, and Wayne, now departed from the body. May their souls, with the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace, and may light perpetual shine upon them. Amen.

Shakespeare in the House!
The youth of the parish and the students of Classical Scholars present A Midsummer Night’s Dream for their annual Shakespeare production. Admission is free but seating is limited to 80 per performance on a “first come, first served” basis. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for all performances. Please reserve your seat today! The last performance of the annual Shakespeare play is specifically scheduled for us here at All Saints. That performance is on Sunday, May 6, at 12:45 p.m. Be sure to sign up for your seat, as everyone who missed the performances during the week will try to squeeze in! You can come at some other time so long as you sign up. The list of all the performances is under “This Week in the Parish” below.

Ladies Primrose Tea
Next Saturday, May 5, the Ladies of All Saints will gather at Sally Blackburn’s home for their annual Primrose Tea. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. Please sign up today! If you would like to contribute a dish, please sign-up for that as well. This is one of our highlight events of the year, so plan on joining us and bring along a friend!

Men’s Breakfast
The men of the parish will gather at Mills River Restaurant at 8:30 a.m. next Saturday, May 5, for fellowship and breakfast. Immediately after, we will head over to Meg Brinley’s new home to help her get her furniture in order.

More announcements are down below so be sure to read on. God bless you all and I look forward to seeing all of you this weekend.

Fr. Erich

Tuesday Book Study
· Our Tuesday Book Study has begun discussing a biblical fiction work: Cain: The Story of the First Murder and the Birth of an Unstoppable Evil. Brennan McPherson explores the questions we’ve all had about Adam and Eve. ‘What happened to Cain?’ is just the beginning." The cost per book is $5.00. Pick up your copy today and read chapters 1-6 for Tuesday’s class.
