Epiphany
II 2010
Epiphany
tide manifests and reveals the communion of Jesus Christ with God the Father.
In it we encounter the evidence of the Father’s power, wisdom and love in the
life of the Son. This week the child Jesus is left behind at the Temple in Jerusalem
because his “Father’s business” comes first. Jesus is consumed by the will of
the Father. His first duty and love is to engage in heavenly converse and
commerce with God. From that exchange he derives his meaning and purpose, his
mission to all men. His earthly Mother cannot find her Son and finds that she
has lost her Son to God. But she must endure the birth pangs of new life. A
woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon
as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no
more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. A man…the Will of
God made flesh.
